Itinerary

DAY 1: Welcome to Galicia!

The adventure begins in Sarriá, a small town in the province of Lugo that will be our starting point. Transportation to Sarriá is not included in the price of the trip, so you can choose how to get to the starting point of our journey.

We’ll be waiting for you at the welcome hostel to meet everyone, and at 6:30 pm, we will have the welcome meeting with all the details and introductions.

Then we’ll enjoy our welcome dinner and drinks before diving into the exciting Camino de Santiago.

DAY 2: Camino de Santiago: Sarriá - Portomarín

Day 2 marks the beginning of our first stage of the Camino de Santiago from Sarriá. The first day of the 5 stages comprises an initial 22 kilometres that we will cover in approximately 5 or 6 hours, we walk until we reach Santiago de Compostela.

On the route, we will encounter many small villages, magical forests, cows, and other pilgrims. We will also walk among the traditional Galician stone and wood granaries, called hórreos, old and curious structures used to store crops.

It is a beautiful stage that culminates with the entrance to Portomarín through its impressive bridge over the Miño River and its stairs that belonged to the ancient mediaeval city of Portomarín, which was submerged by the construction of the Belesar Reservoir.

In the afternoon, we’ll have time to get to know each other better and toast with some very well-deserved beers. Perhaps we also want to try the Queimada with its ritual and incantations.

DAY 3: Camino de Santiago: Portomarín – Palas de Rei

Second stage of this exciting Camino de Santiago route. On this day, we have ahead of us 25 kilometres that we will cover in about 6 hours.

We can expect routes through forests and beautiful nature. Rural areas and Romanesque-style churches that adorn the entire Camino de Santiago.

We will take advantage of these walks to continue getting to know each other, enjoy the scenery, and embrace the adventure of the Camino.

Upon our arrival in Palas de Rei, we will take the opportunity to rest, explore this small town, and enjoy the evening with our travel companions.

DAY 4: Camino de Santiago: Palas de Rei – Ribadixo de Baixo

Stage 3, and that means the longest and most challenging stage of our journey awaits us. 28 kilometres separate us from Ribadixo de Baixo, which we will cover in about 7 or 8 hours.

On the other hand, it is one of the most beautiful stages of the Camino de Santiago, and we will also have time to rest in Melide while enjoying a serving of its famous «pulpo a feira» (octopus fair).

On the way to Ribadixo de Baixo, we’ll pass through various bridges and mediaeval villages like the paved path of Rio Castol, and will refresh ourselves in the Arzua River before reaching the beautiful village of Ribadixo.

DAY 5: Camino de Santiago: Ribadixo de Baixo - Pedrouzo

After a good breakfast to gather strength, the fourth stage of our Camino de Santiago awaits us. 21 kilometres and about 5 or 6 hours until we reach Pedrouzo through paths, hermitages, cows, and meadows that we will alternate with areas closer to the road.

Before reaching Pedrouzo, we will recommend a bar whose Spanish omelette will undoubtedly be one of the best you’ve ever tasted in your life.

In the afternoon, we will enjoy well-deserved beers with the rest of the travel family and our new friends and savour a dinner before going to rest. Tomorrow is the big day!

DAY 6: Camino de Santiago: Pedrouzo – Santiago de Compostela

Final stage will take us to Santiago de Compostela. 19 kilometres separate us from the long-awaited Cathedral of Santiago.

We will meet at the entrance of Santiago de Compostela at an agreed-upon time to enter all together into the iconic Obradoiro Square and share that incredible feeling of completing the Camino de Santiago. An experience difficult to forget.

After taking some photos in the square with our companions, we will collect the Compostela, the official certification of the Camino de Santiago, which will be handed to us at the Pilgrim’s Office.

We will also have time to explore the streets of this impressive UNESCO World Heritage urban area and delight in its delicious gastronomy.

In the evening, after enjoying our last dinner with the travel family, we’ll go out to discover the bars and the great atmosphere of this fascinating city.

Cheers!

DAY 7: Back Home

Today is the day to say goodbye to our new friends and think about the next adventure with Nomad Bee and GdM.

Every time we think of Galicia, we will remember those beautiful paths through the forests full of vegetation, incredible landscapes, and the smiles and conversations during the long hours of walking with the wonderful people we have met.

See you soon, friends, until the next adventure!

Frequently Asked Questions

Generales

Is transport to Sarriá included?

Transportation to the meeting point is not included in the rate. You have complete freedom when choosing which way to get to Sarriá and times that best suit you. You can even arrive a day before the trip date or stay a few more days once our trip is over.

What time should I arrive at the destination?

You must arrive at approximately 6pm at the indicated place and day to begin the adventure and the welcome meeting.

How does the common fund work?

The common fund is the money we will use throughout the itinerary for the expenses of all participants, such as local transport, tickets, extra activities… for each trip, we establish an estimated pot that may vary slightly depending on the extra activities we want to do or not. It is used to facilitate the management of payments on-site, and the expenses for meals and drinks will not be managed with this pot. On the first day of the trip, the coordinator will collect the common fund in local currency and will be in charge of its management.

What role does the trip coordinator play?

In all Nomad Bee trips, there will be a coordinator or group leader responsible for logistics and support during the trip. They will be responsible for communicating with suppliers, managing transportation, advising you before and during the trip, and proposing extra activities.

A coordinator is not a guide as such but rather another travel companion whose role is to ensure that your only concern is to enjoy and make the most of the trip. They will be known to you two weeks before the trip when the WhatsApp group is created. From then on, you will have direct contact with them and can resolve your doubts and seek advice for the trip.

What age range will the participants in this trip have?

This trip will be composed of a small group of 6 to 20 people of a similar age for similar tastes and interests, ensuring the best possible coexistence and experience.

The age range for our tours varies between 25 to 49 years, an ideal age range to share tastes and interests but with a slight age difference that greatly enriches the trip.

How can I get to know my travel companions?

Two weeks before the trip, the coordinator will create a WhatsApp group with all the participants in the trip.

However, if you want to contact your travel companions in advance, enter our Facebook group to get to know each other and stay informed about all offers, new itineraries, and news from Nomad Bee.

What type of luggage do I have to take on the trip?

Our trips are dynamic, and we will generally change accommodations and locations frequently. That’s why carrying a backpack and traveling light is important. Forget about «just in case» items. Our experience tells us that you can travel anywhere in the world with a 40/50L backpack and a maximum of 8-10 kgs.

Can the itinerary change?

We are almost certain that we are going to do this proposed trip. However, it should be noted that the itinerary, activities, and accommodations are subject to change. These changes may occur without notice due to availability, bad weather, seasonal changes, or other circumstances beyond our control. Occasionally, we may also make changes to the itinerary to try out new ideas and keep things fresh.

Sobre el destino

Where is the meeting point?

It will be in Sarria, at the hostel of the first day where we’ll meet with the rest of our group and get to know the coordinator. The meeting will start at 6:30 PM, so if you can arrive a bit earlier to check in, that would be awesome.

How can I get to Sarriá?

Do you live outside Spain?

The best way is to fly to the airport of Santiago de Compostela: Aeropuerto de Santiago – Rosalía de Castro (SCQ) and take a bus to Sarriá.

If you already live in Spain and you want to get to Sarriá you will have many option to do it:

  • By plane ✈️: Fly to Santiago de Compostela (SCQ) and take a bus to Lugo (2 hours) and another bus from Lugo to Sarriá (about 35 minutes). This can be done with the company Monbus.

  • By train 🚆: Travelling by RENFE is one of the most recommendable options if you are travelling from Madrid as there are daily connections. You can also travel from Barcelona, although the journey takes about 12 hours. To check all the RENFE timetables click here
  • By car 🚘: From Madrid it will take you about 5 hours and from Barcelona about 9 hours and a half. You can also share a car with other members of the group or use the Blablacar app.
  • By bus 🚍: there are no direct connections from cities like Barcelona or Madrid. You would have to travel to Lugo or Santiago and from there to Sarriá.

What are the accommodations like, and who will I be sharing a room with?

Throughout the Camino, we will be staying in hostels and guesthouses, sharing rooms. In other words, in the most traditional and authentic way to experience the Camino. The accommodations will be clean and equipped with the necessary services for our comfort.

A few days before the trip, we will send you a document with all the details of the journey and the accommodations where we will stay along the itinerary.

What type of luggage do I need to bring on the trip?

On this trip, it’s essential to bring a backpack and travel light. Forget about ‘just in case’ items. Our experience tells us that you can travel anywhere in the world with a 40/50L backpack and a maximum of 8-10 kg.

Some important things not to forget include: a water bottle (at least 1L), sunglasses and sunscreen, a lightweight sleeping bag, trekking shoes, technical clothing, or a rain jacket.
